Turbine 38 MW, Morupule, Botswana
The coal power plant located near Palapye in the Central District in Botswana, no longer operational and known among the local population as the “ghost factory” will be commissioned by the Doosan Heavy Industries and Construction over the next two years. The Morupule A power plant, owned by the Botswana Power Corporation previously supplied 80% of the electricity in and was disconnected from operation in 2013 after the commissioning of the new Morupule B.
Doosan Heavy Industries, is the EPC contractor of the 132 MW electric power plant, whereas Doosan Škoda Power will retrofit the three existing 33 MW combustion turbines and will supply the new turbine and generator with an output of 38 MW.
AUTEL, a.s. received a statement from DOOSAN ŠKODA POWER that it has evaluated the bid for the turbine control and protection system on the basis of the Siemens SPPA-T3000, field instrumentation and ASŘ cables for delivery of its turbine as the winning bid.
The price of the project is 12 million CZK. Termination of the project and full operation is proposed for 2017.
