AUTEL is upgrading the control system of the papermaking machine

Mondi Świecie S.A. v Świeciu, a company in Poland, is carrying out the project of modernizing its papermaking machine MP1. The required technological adjustments will be made by the Finnish company Valmet. Part of the current modernization efforts is the replacement of the obsolete control system with a new one. The papermaking machine MP1 is the company’s key production means, which is why the project is ascribed such significance.

In March 2016 our company received a request for quote from Mondi Świecie S.A. for the replacement of the DCS control system (Distributed Control System) of the type ABB Advant Master AC450 with the ABB System 800xA in order to modernize their papermaking machine. The replacement will be undertaken in two stages. The first stage in August 2016 will include the replacement of the Siemens PLC Simatic S7 automation system with the ABB System 800xA automation platform. The second stage, which will end in February 2017, will substitute the modern ABB System 800xA for the current ABB Advant Master AC450 system. To meet grant requirements, the production quality control system (QCS) will also have to be upgraded.

The final technical and business discussions took place in parallel with the ones our partner held with a competing company in the 21st week of 2016. As a result of the exhausting technical and business negotiations, the client chose our company to undertake the project.

The contract is worth 630 000 euros.
