Renovation and ecologization of the incinerator
Equipment for the energy use of waste (hereinafter referred to as ZEVO) in – Malešice was commissioned in 1998. In ZEVO, approximately 80% of the total volume of mixed communal waste is used within the whole Prague system. Waste is burned in ZEVO in four boilers with trolling grids.
ZEVO is connected to the Malešice heating plant and energy generated by the combustion of waste is partially used in the Prague distribution network. At the same time, since 2010, due to the cogeneration unit, ZEVO has enabled to generate electricity for 20,000 households. The capacity of ZEVO is 310,000 tons of waste per year and the company annually disposes of over 200,000 tons.
ZEVO has been in operation for almost 20 years and most of the equipment is nearing the end of its service life. For this reason, the company Pražské služby, a.s., which owns ZEVO, decided to implement the “General restoration of lines and ecologization of Malešice” project (hereinafter referred to as GOLEM).
GOLEM includes the reconstruction of the waste incineration process (grid), the system for producing steam (boiler) and the reconstruction of the cleaning system for burnt gases on all four lines with the aim to increase the reliability and the capacity of incineration and to reduce the ecological burden.
AUTEL has been implementing long-term projects and servicing in ZEVO. In the tender, AUTEL won the “turnkey” supply of part of the power system, the measurement and control system of the newly installed grid and the boiler, and the cleaning of burnt gases as a sub-vendor of the company supplying the technology.
The project will be implemented gradually up to 2022.
